WCPG 2005 Volunteer Program
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM CHAIR
This year’s volunteer program is being chaired and organized by
Local Committee Member Susan L. Santangelo, Sc.D., Psychiatric &
Neurodevelopmental Genetics Unit, Center for Human Genetic Research
at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The purpose of the volunteer program is to create a valuable and
worthwhile exchange for exceptional undergraduate, graduate and
post doctorate students, as well as research assistants in psychiatric
or psychiatric genetic studies. In exchange for the time and commitment
that supports the ISPG and WCPG as non profit organizations, volunteers
will be able to participate in this year’s WCPG congress as well
as network with the attendees and organizers.

Available Roles: Language Interpretation & Assistance
We will have many countries represented at the conference, and
our attendees will need language assistance at the time of registration,
during the conference program and possibly with some of their activities
outside of the conference program. Your assistance will be invaluable
to their participation in the conference.

VOLUNTEER BENEFITS
Volunteers will receive the following benefits for their participation:
- Complimentary meeting registration ($400-$800.00 value)
- Complimentary tickets to the Welcome Reception
- Acknowledgement during the final remarks at the close of the
conference
- A letter of acknowledgement, post conference, signed and executed
by the Conference Chair and Volunteer Chair
In addition, volunteer pictures and (2-3) line resumes provided
by the volunteers will be published in an onsite newsletter.
QUALIFICATIONS
To participate in this program you must be a research assistant
in psychiatric or psychiatric genetic studies, or an undergraduate,
graduate, or post doctoral student training in a health-related
discipline. Special consideration will be given to those students
with concentrations in the areas of genetic and/or psychiatric research.
You must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Participants will be ready and willing to help conference attendees
with any issues that may arise, always with a pleasant demeanor.
Reliable and conscientious individuals wanted.
COMMITMENT
Volunteers will commit a maximum of 40 hours.
All volunteers must participate in the Training Orientation and
Conference Setup on Thursday, October 13.
Conference Assistance: Friday 10/14 through Tuesday 10/18: each
volunteer will work (1) four hour shift (morning or afternoon as
assigned).
Language Interpretation and Assistance: Friday 10/14 through Tuesday
10/18: each volunteer will work with members of each country, as
assigned.
Only volunteers able to participate in the full schedule, including
training, will be accepted.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications to the volunteer program must be received by Monday,
September 19, 2005.

APPLICATION REVIEW / NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
- Only complete applications will be reviewed by the volunteer
committee.
