Welcome
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Local Organizing
Committee of the XIIITH World
Congress for Psychiatric Genetics,
welcome to WCPG 2005! I invite
you to join us, and colleagues
from around the world, in Boston,
MA for an exciting and informative
conference.
These are intriguing times
for psychiatric genetic research.
For some disorders, meta-analyses
and large collaborative projects
have begun to define linkage
regions and candidate genes
worthy of further study. Some
groups are also moving forward
with functional genomic studies.
As psychiatric genetics advances
on its pathway to discovery,
WCPG provides an essential venue
for sharing results, learning
about new technologies, fostering
collaborative work, and enjoying
the good fellowship of colleagues
from around the world.
WCPG 2005 offers plenary lectures,
invited symposia, oral presentations,
poster sessions, and educational
workshops that survey critical
milestones along the full pathway
to discovery.
Highlights of WCPG 2005 include
the progress of our field towards
the latest phases of gene discovery:
- multipoint linkage disequilibrium
mapping
- implications of the Hapmap
project
- innovations in statistical
genetics
- applications of data mining
- breakthroughs in bioinformatics
- approaches to functional
genomics using animal and
in vitro models
Exchange. Learn. Collaborate.
